my 2 best friends

I am out.of.control.  2 blog posts in one day.  Cah-razy!!

I think you will all understand once i fill you in on who my best friends are, but I think you need some background.  Since last Wednesday I have been hangin at home with at least one of my peeps.  Wait...back up one more day though...it all started last Tuesday...a wintry mix kinda Tuesday.  Yes, widespread panic occurred again, like it did here, when we had some weather issues.  Our kids had a two hour delay.  It gets better.  On Wednesday they had the day off.  I encouraged the kids to play outside with their friends for quite a while.  As a result of my superb parenting skills, little Miss Jaida came down with a fever and a cough.  I wish I had a sound recording of her when she coughed or sneezed.  It is unbelievable.  You would never know that the sound you just heard came from her little body.  She sounds like an 80 year old man who was a chain smoker for 70 of his 80 years.  Seriously. she.does.  So, for the next 2 days, Jaida and I got to hang at home together.  Great mother-daughter time, but she was out of it, borderline hallucinating cuz her fevers don't mess around.  They kick her in the butt!!!  So, while she hung out on the couch in and out of consciousness, I cleaned the house, did laundry and all that jazz.  On Friday, Mags comes home and heads directly to the couch.  She did not pass go nor did she collect 200 bucks!  That is where she stayed until Sunday.  We all went to church together and went to the Y together because we attempted to be overachievers in the parenting department since i screwed up royally with Jaida a few days before!  Well...can you say backfire?!!  Mags has been parked on the couch all day today...yet another day of sickness in our home.

So, allow me to introduce to you my 2 best friends.  Drumroll please......

Yes, yes, yes.  I have been in constant communication with these little beauties with the hope of preventing the sharing of germs!  Besides wanting to prevent the sharing of germs...i would really like to get to the mall.  Man, i have been wanting a new purse!!!!!

forced

Could I waste any more time?????

I decided to move this blog from blogger to WordPress~thought it seemed like a fun thing to do!  Well, I am all about customizing and individualizing and all that jazz so i have spent hours trying to "make this my own" as they say on American Idol (btw, so incredibly glad they added steven tyler and j-lo to the show!  they are hysterical!!!)   So, I have spent time trying to find the perfect layout that screams my personality as well as the perfect font and the perfect pix to add to the side bar.  Well, can't get the font to work, not sure if the layout screams my personality or just kinda whispers,  "hey, this was the closest i could get and i've lost my attention for it"  and was hoping i could get my pix from photobucket to this site, but it doesn't really work that way.  What have i learned from all this???  Not quite sure...i've already lost my attention for this post, so I looked for a far side cartoon to pass my time!!

>Science Fair Schmience Fair

>Another science fair experiment has been completed by Nathan.
He did a great job with it.  He came up with his own topic, he did the majority of the work when setting everything up, he even wrote all of his info out and input all of his info in the computer, and he met all of his deadlines.  BUT...let's face it, when it comes to putting the board together, that is my job.  My "i will take all day and ignore every other long and tedious chore in this house to get this done" job.
So, hours later, 1 gluestick kicked, and no laundry done...here is the result
Nate, I am proud of you...kinda tickled w/the outcome of the board, too ;)

>The Invisible Ninja

>So.....last night we had the "what do you want to be when you grow up" discussion.  Let me tell you...we are NOT a family of extremes.  No, not at all.   So, here's the rundown.

Corey (age 13)-sit around and do nothing, but be a millionaire (although he doesn't know what he would do w/all of his money)
Nathan (age 10)-discover new animal species
Fahnta (age 9)-a teacher...maybe college teacher...maybe 3rd grade
Maggie (age 8)-a farmer...with horses of course
Jaida (age 7)-an art teacher
Ezeekai (age 5)-an invisible ninja

So, as you can see, we have some kids with half-way decent goals for life and others that are, how can we say it *pause for dramatic effect*????  more creative.

>It's fun to stay at the YMCA......

>

Soooo, we have joined the YMCA!!

Yippee, yahoo!!  All of our kids have a membership therefore all of our kids are taken there on a Sunday afternoon to get their energy out exercise.  The girls and ezeekai are enjoying the swimming pool and the boys are enjoying the gym.  Of course, I forgot to take my camera to take pictures of the fun and frolicking...maybe next time!!

>First snow and farm show

>So, last week produced the first lame major snow fall that resulted in the first 2 hour delay for the school year!  YEE-HAW!  I think we may have gotten about 2-3 inches, but it was enough to spread panic and delay school and allow the kids and their friends to attempt to sled in the front yard!

We also took the kids out of school on Friday so we could take a family trip to the farm show.  Good.time.fun!!!  I was asked by one of the kids how much the farmshow cost.  Soooooo, in order to spread more panic, I told them we would probably have to leave one of them at the front door to cover the cost.  Silence amongst the troops!  Once they realized i was pulling their leg and that there was no cost to get into the farm show, they were all for it!  We did all have a great time.  We saw lots of animals (duh!), smelled lots of smells (that caused Jaida to cry....even more duh!) and ate food that we were charged waaaaaay too much for (even more and more and more duh!).  The $5 funnel cake was worth every penny though!  Corey's $3 Mountain Dew....not so much.

>Shopping with grown-ups

>

We just got back from a Saturday night shopping trip to Wal-Mart and Target.  We needed some groceries plus the kids had some Christmas money that we decided we would be nice parents and let them spend.  They caught us on a good day!!
The kids were patient and waited until we were completely done w/the groceries and then they were able to go through the aisles and choose some toy that w/in the next month will be broken, lost, or eaten by the dog.  It's all good though.

Trips like this are rare for us...for many, many reasons.  What we found out after this trip is that our kids are growing up.  It is unbelievable that when all was said and done we walked out of Target w/happy children, happier parents and not one shed tear.  This has not always been the case. I remember before Nate's 4th birthday I told him that he did NOT have to cry every time we left wal-mart without him playing a game in their arcade.  I let him know that once he turned 4, he was all done w/that.  That worked for a little bit.  =)

It is now 9:15 pm and our girls are busy w/their new liv dolls, ez is playing w/his cool beyblades, corey is listening to his ipod w/his new case, and nate just put away his cool new remote control hexbug.  Such bliss post-bedtime is unheard of  awesome!!!

Our kids are growing up!

Well guys, while everyone was gone today i went through our pictures stored on our laptop and actually got them organized.  I know, I know, you were all sooooo incredibly concerned about that and now you are all soooo incredibly relieved the job has been done!  You fail to realized how much fun that really is.  I kinda got a year in review today and it was great!  I got to reminisce about playing in the snow last year (well about you guys playing in the snow, not me), snow forts (again, yours...not mine), everybody's birthdays, the boys playing basketball, nate's science fair project, sahr's soccer games, corey's baseball games, ez's preschool year, field day for the crestview kids, fahnta's soccer, our animals, your time with friends and swimming pool parties, everyone's first day of school, and last but not least and probably the family favorite...our north carolina beach vacation!   So, I am going to put just a few of my favorites on here :)  Thanks to my family for a great year of memories in 2010!

>I've succumbed to the blog world...

>
Okay, so i have decided to use my time at the computer in a more family friendly way (at least that is how i am going to justify spending time using this blasted thing!)  Anyway, in an effort to keep some sort of record of our family shenanigans, i am going to blog.  The people that i live with give me soooo much material that it is just a shame to let it go to waste...i mean it just makes sense!!!  The kids all seem into it, although they don't realize exactly how much embarrassing information is going to be put out there!
I have one major rule for this thing and it has already been broken by my two oldest boys.  NO ONE, i mean NO ONE is permitted to read while I am typing.  can't.stand.it.  won't.take.it...it may result in bodily damage!  As i type this, Corey is shooting a nerf gun at me with the hopes of it hitting the computer screen so that he can retrieve it.

So as we begin the year 2011, we will see if i can continue on this new family friendly use of the computer for longer than 2 weeks!  I usually have a tough time stickin with things.  That is why I have only run 1 marathon...

Love you guys!!!!
